Happy Indian Army Day 2022: The day is celebrated in recognition of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa’s taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Francis Bucher, who was the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, in 1949.
Indian Army Day 2022 honours the sacrifice of troops who were killed in the line of duty while defending the country and its residents. Not only that, but the day commemorates Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa’s appointment as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949, succeeding General Francis Bucher, the final British Commander-in-Chief of India. Every year on January 15, India celebrates Army Day. The 74th Indian Army Day will be observed this year.
